The City of Millbrae is working on a General Plan and is gathering community feedback on a vision and plan for El Camino Real and the Downtown at a community workshop series this week and next.   The workshops will bring residents, business owners, and City staff together to explore options, and provide “real time†input.
El Camino Real is the city’s entrance to the Millbrae station, which the town hopes will become a “Grand Central station”, not only a transit hub but a destination drawing visitors by transit.  Currently it focuses on cars and car-centric businesses, and is unpleasant and challenging for people walking and bicycling. El Camino currently separates the downtown from the transit center; could more easily connect the current downtown to the planned retail, commercial, and residential development?

The overlooked need right now is a safe way to get from BART to the southbound ECR bus stop. Better yet, get Samtrans back to the Millbrae Station east transit plaza.
