Last week Tuesday, the SamTrans board had a special meeting where they reviewed the draft preferred network for “Reimagine SamTrans”, the agency’s service overhaul.
The proposal will also be presented to the SamTrans board in October, kicking off the agency’s final outreach. Board adoption is scheduled for
February 2022 with rollout in August 2022.
The proposal has measures to improve speed and reliability on El Camino Real including stop consolidation and transit signal priority. It includes better, more frequent service connecting to Caltrain and BART, with an emphasis on timed transfers at key points. On-demand service in East Palo Alto is proposed with a goal of increasing access to neighborhoods.
Overall, the proposal would put a greater number of people within a quarter-mile of high-frequency routes, providing better access for:
– 125,000 more jobs
– 185,000 more residents
