Yesterday, the San Jose City Council voted to advance a “Transit First” policy, to prioritize speeding transit on city streets and in land use plans.
As a next step, the city will create a working group consisting of various stakeholders, hopefully including transit riders. The working group will develop an action plan to identify corridors, and review strategies including bus lans, queue jumps, signal priority, and other techniques to speed transit. Stay tuned for more opportunities to help speed transit on San Jose streets and set precedent for Santa Clara County.
