The November ballot has several major transportation initiatives for readers on the Peninsula corridor from San Francisco through San Jose.   For supporters of sustainable transportation, read on about how you can help.

San Francisco’s ballot measures J and K would together provide $2.7 Billion over 24 year for investments in Muni, BART, Caltrain, walking, bicycling, and street repaving, as well as funding for homeless services.

Measure RR (think RailRoad) is a $3.5 Billion bond measure that would raise funds to upgrade BART’s aging tracks and other infrastructure.

Santa Clara County’s Measure B would raise $6.5 billion for transportation, including $1B for Caltrain capacity improvements and grade separations; $1.5B to bring BART to Silicon Valley; about $1B for street repaving with a “complete streets requirement” to ensure that repaving projects make streets better for walking, bicycling, and transit in addition to cars; $500M for bus operations supporting a more frequent network, and $1.5B in an attempt to address congestion by alleviating bottlenecks at freeway interchanges and expressways.
