The main opposition to Caltrain electrification comes from California’s Republican contingent in Congress.  They need to hear from voters.
If you happen to be a registered republican (demographically, some of you are), you can be especially helpful.  Explain why you, as a republican, find the effort to kill electrification reprehensible. Kevin McCarthy of Bakersfield and Jeff Denham of Turlock are leaders leaders. If you have friends and family in Bakersfield or Turlock and don’t like these efforts to kill Caltrain electrification, ask them to call McCarthy.  Let us know what you hear.
If you aren’t a republican and are concerned about these Congressmen trying to kill Caltrain electrification, threatened cuts to national transit funding, and deep cuts to climate and environmental protection, and science, and more. Are you mad enough yet? Did you see that Scott Pruitt, the head of the EPA said yesterday he doubts that CO2 is a leading driver of climate change?
Groups including Indivisible and SwingLeft are organizing citizens and voters in these districts. Â Adopt-a-villain and pitch in with action in the district. Let us know what you’re finding.
