Caltrain’s special service for Bay to Breakers
On Sunday May 16, Caltrain will provide special service for the Bay to Breakers footrace in San Francisco.
This year Caltrain will add four special trains, one more from last year, to address the potential overcrowding. Because ridership from the Bay to Breakers has been rising over the years, it has been challenge for Caltrain to plan for an appropriate service level to meet the demand.
Caltrain is advising riders to arrive at the station earlier to purchase tickets. The lines at ticket machines can be long. If you’re traveling in a small group, you can save time and money by buying an 8-ride ticket from any ticket machine the day before the race. 8-ride tickets can be used by multiple riders traveling together. All you need is to validate one ride per passenger before boarding the train. Larger groups (30 or more) can pre-purchase tickets by mail at the same discount as 8-ride tickets.
